Well it's been a long time coming and whether you want to hear the story or not, that is your choice. There is lots of pictures to look at for those non-mothers who don't care to hear another woman's labor and delivery saga. Mine was like this. Went to the dreaded Dr appt Thursday morning and was still at a 3, but I was 90% thinned out and my Dr said all he had to do was break my water. So he stripped my membranes (OUCH!!!) really well and said to go into the hospital as soon as the contractions start. I still doubted that they would start on their own, so we told him that I needed to be induced this weekend if I didn't go on my own. Trevor's schedule for next week was really busy (that was our excuse, but it worked). He said he would call in and see what he could do. So... we only had Trey with us, the girls were at school, and so we decided to go and walk around Costco. Why not! It's cool and closer then the mall, and it's not crowded on a Thursday morning. After about 40 minutes of walking, I started feeling really yucky. Not too many contractions, just nauseated and hurting from the previous appointment. So we bought a roasted chicken and some smoothies and went to the park next to Natali's preschool. I walked around there and ate a lot of chicken and timed my contractions. They were coming every four minutes, but they weren't very strong so I was pessimistic that they would keep going. After we got Nat they were still going and going, getting a bit stronger, so we went to the Caffall's to see if Mom Caffall was home just in case. The hospital is a lot closer to their house then Gold Canyon. We caught her as she was pulling out of the driveway to go to the temple. She is a saint and stayed home to watch Nat and Trey while we decided to head to the hospital. They were still coming and a few of them felt very real. After checking into triage and running into the nurse that taught my Lamaze class with Anna (super nice lady) I was dilated to a 6 and they let me stay. I was so excited that I was already to a 6 and it had been cake so far (pain wise). They transferred me to the labor and delivery room and the nurses were all running around freaked out cause we told them that our last baby had to be caught by the nurse he came so fast. Dr came in, broke my water (OUCH, OUCH, OUCH!!!!! seriously hurt soooo bad) and I swear I had at least 5 lbs of water in there. The contractions started coming harder and faster and they were much less tolerable. I tolerated them for another hour and a half or so till they told me that I was still at a 7. I then, very hesitantly decided to go for the epidural. The lady who did it was amazing and very fast, understanding and wonderful. She got it in and I had about one minute of lighter contractions and then the pressure hit! I seriously felt his head slide right down and of course 5 minutes after the epidural was in, he was out! Devin Clifford Caffall was born to our family at 3:47 pm. Weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs 4 oz, measuring 20.1", with a head circ of 13.6". He's our biggest yet! He came out crying and kicking letting us know he was nice and healthy. Chubby cheeks and wide eyes. He is amazingly cute and is doing great!!! He came out so fast that I didn't get the second dose of antibiotic in for the GBS, so we had to stay at the hospital for 48 hours to test Devin for anything. It is so good to be home and recovering and NOT PREGNANT!! None of the kids have seen him yet, they got swept away to the cabin with grandma and grandpa all weekend. I miss them terribly and can't wait to see them tomorrow and see what they think of their new brother. We are very blessed and love little Devin so much already. He likes to keep us (well me) awake from about 10-1 at night, but he sleeps really well after that. Sorry for the long story, but it's the only way I will document it right now. Thanks for all the love and support and tolerance for my grumpiness this summer. Enjoy the pictures!!! Sorry no pictures of Trevor with baby... the only ones I have are on my phone and I don't know how to do that.
